John was born in Liverpool in 1951, the son of a Liverpool docker and shopworker – his family moved south for work. He gained a degree from Brunel University and Masters at Birkbeck College, University of London.
John has lived and worked in Hayes and Harlington for over 30 years. Married with three children, John has served our community for over 25 years in his role as the MP, local GLC councillor, and founder and member of numerous local community organisations working to improve the quality of life for everyone living in Hayes and Harlington.
Since being elected MP for Hayes and Harlington in 1997, he has gained a reputation for his hard work on behalf of local people, pioneering the role of a community MP. He concentrates on working tirelessly within our community, empowering local residents to tackle the issues that are of concern to us all. He is an independent voice, not afraid to speak out.
